(Sydney, 26th Oct. 2015)
Distinguished Mr. Liu Yuankun, Vice Governor of Guizhou province of China
Distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen, dear friends,
I am honoured to attend today’s Promotion Seminar on Guizhou Agricultural Projects here. I’d like to extend,on behalf of Chinese Consulate General in Sydney,my warm welcome to all participants based in Australia and especially the Chinese delegation led by vice-governor Mr. Liu Yuankun, from south-western province-Guizhou of China.
The political and economic relations between China and Australia shows good momentum in recent years, as the two countries are important trade partners for each other. China is Australia's largest import market, the tourist source country with most value and the largest source of international students. The complementary advantages between China and Australia economies become more reciprocal as we both look forward to win-win engagements.
China-Australia ties are in an important stage of development. Our two countries established a comprehensive strategic partnership last year during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s state visit to Australia. Following that, we have seen the signing of the ChAFTA, and Australia joining the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) as a founding member this year. These momentous events open up broader horizons for bilateral cooperation across the board.
We are pleased to see more and more business delegations from Chinese local provinces including Guizhou visiting Australia especially Sydney of NSW. Australia has a strong advantage in Agriculture and animal husbandry. Meanwhile, China is a big agricultural country, especially Guizhou has achieved a great progress in developing high productivity agriculture in mountainous region. I believe that both our two countries have a great complementary and broader prospect in agriculture field. It is believed that the promotion seminar on agriculture held here by Guizhou today, will provide a good platform and opportunity for interchange and cooperation in agriculture and other sectors between China Guizhou and Australia.
Last but not the least, I wish today’s conference a great success and a pleasant stay in Sydney to the Delegation.
Thank you all.
