The State of New South Wales has the largest and most dynamic economy in Australia. It is very competitive in such sectors as financial services, education, tourism, health and so on. According to Australian statistics, its Gross State Product reached 663.635 billion Australian dollars and accounts for 31.5% of the national GDP in the 2020/2021 financial year. Its total trade volume reached 172.4 billion Australian dollars and accounts for 24.5% of the national total.
Over the years, New South Wales enjoys a leading position in the economic and trade relations with China, among all states and territories in Australia. At present, China is the State’s largest trade partner, source of imports and services export market. New South Wales is also one of the important destinations for Chinese overseas investment, home to the China Chamber of Commerce in Australia, and has the largest number of Chinese corporate headquarters in Australia.
