On 21 June, H.E. Consul General Wang Yu attended and delivered remarks at the inaugural ceremony of the Hong Kong-Sydney Route of Hong Kong Airlines, held at Sydney Airport. Karen Jones, CEO of Destination NSW, Ricky Chong, Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Sydney, Sun Jianfeng, Chairman of Hong Kong Airlines, Scott Charlton, CEO of Sydney Airport, were present.

Wang Yu congratulated Hong Kong Airlines on the successful  inaugural flight and expressed gratitude for the hard work and efforts of all parties involved. He noted the launch of Hong Kong Airlines’ Hong Kong–Sydney route would strengthen Hong Kong and Sydney’s role as vital gateways for the flow of people and goods, injecting fresh momentum into the economic and cultural ties between China and Australia. He conveyed the aspiration that both sides would adhere to the principle of mutual benefit and co-operation, forging an air corridor that is even more convenient, efficient, comfortable, and safe.

Karen Jones and the other guests commended Hong Kong Airlines for operating the new Hong Kong–Sydney route. They expressed their commitment to leveraging this opportunity to further strengthen co-operation across various sectors between the two sides.
